ARTECOM’s multimedia installations constitute the fulcrum of the project and represent an innovative integration between art, technology and collective participation. Located in strategic urban spaces in the city of L’Aquila, they promote an inclusive use of cultural heritage through immersive and interactive experiences, with particular attention to the participation of adolescent citizens, actively involving them in the creation and evolution of the works.

The installations are based on the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, augmented reality, motion sensors and interactive surfaces, with the aim of transforming the urban landscape into a dynamic environment, capable of stimulating new ways of cultural interaction. The accessible and inclusive design ensures equitable use for users of all ages and abilities, overcoming the barriers that often limit access to artistic and musical experiences.

L’Aquila: history, innovation and urban regeneration

L’Aquila is a city of great historical, cultural, and architectural value, located in the heart of Abruzzo. Founded in the 13th century, it has represented an important political and economic center of the Kingdom of Naples for centuries, with an exceptional artistic heritage, testified by churches, historical palaces, and medieval and Renaissance monuments. However, the devastating earthquake of 2009 profoundly affected the urban fabric, necessitating a long and complex reconstruction phase. This process has offered the city the opportunity not only to recover its heritage but also to rethink its development in a modern perspective, combining tradition and innovation.

In this context, the ARTECOM project emerges as an experimental initiative that uses music, technology, and artificial intelligence to create new ways of enjoying public spaces and cultural heritage.

The intervention adopts an innovative approach to the relationship between music, technology, and the urban environment, through interactive multimedia installations that transform the city into an immersive sound space. The use of advanced digital tools allows the reinterpretation of urban spaces through sound, creating an experience where citizens are not just spectators, but actively participate in the creation and transformation of the sound environment.

The intervention also fits into a broader sustainable development strategy, which sees L’Aquila as a protagonist of a model of an intelligent and inclusive city. Thanks to the application of innovative digital solutions, the city is transformed into an environment where technology becomes a tool to strengthen the bond between citizens, historical memory, and territory. ARTECOM contributes to this process, offering artistic experiences that combine past and future, making L’Aquila a reference point for the interaction between art, technology, and urban space.
